The next station was the world heritage area Fraser Island. This is the world’s largest sand island with giant dunes, ancient rainforests, lots of lakes and wildlife including the dingo. We had booked a tour that started in Rainbow Beach and brought us by ferry to Fraser Island where a 4WD waited for us. After a one hour drive through the forrest we walked to the blue water Lake Mackenzie. Unfortunately the roads were very bumpy and the driver drove very fast so my wife had problems with her hip.
